COHOUSING, CSI ANNEX

Researching Canadian and Danish precedents, students worked with CANOPY, the first cohousing group in Toronto, to develop speculative proposals. Cohousing emerged in Denmark and spread to parts of North America with the help of Charles Durrett, and Kathryn McCamant. This housing typology expands the unit of the family to include multi-generational living where inhabitants share resources, meals, and create a micro-political unit together. Cohousing is one response to intentional collective living that reinvigorates a sense of community.
