PAPER ORBS, OTTAWA/GATINEAU

This project was exhibited in the Toronto Nuit Blanche and then again in the inaugural Ottawa/Gattineau Nuit Blanche. Paper Orbs is a massive origami installation that slowly disintegrates over the course of the night. This project aims to bypass the routine habits of pedestrians by transforming how the public moves and relates to one another, in effect, inventing a new kind of ritual or festival. These individualized folded thinking caps bring into tension the personal space of participants and the larger unity of a collective body, making it vibrate together by this performative, disintegrating sculpture.
